THE BODY POPULAR: BEYOND THE FLAT with Zachary Fabri & Samantha Box

People have long used portraits to communicate ideas about identity and power. Today, there is a growing sense of the limits and possibility of a portrait to capture the nuance & fullness of a person. Circulated images can raise the profile of an individual, capture the pulse of the moment, yet can also broadcast unhelpful and unexamined narratives.⁣

BEYOND THE FLAT, a live, outdoor performance by Zachary Fabri, is based on a portrait by artist Samantha Box (above). This performance leans into the ambiguity around portraiture. ⁣ Fabri’s performance will consider the lifeforce of a portrait, the sitter, the viewer, and the context of creation.

In order to better understand the context of the performance sites, tickets come with a promo code for a FREE tour of Weeksville’s historic houses and grounds; we encourage attendees to sign up for expanded tours on the performance date (Saturday, 3/19) ⁣Tickets for the 6pm performance.

There are also a limited number of no-cost tickets available for our Weeksville community members and for those who are unable to pay the full ticket cost.
